COMING UP ACTIVITIES FOR YEAR 2008

FEBRUARY - MAY 2008 - OFFER BY SPCA - RM 100 SPAYING VOUCHERS

In our efforts to curb the pet overpopulation in Penang, SPCA is giving away neutering vouchers worth RM100 each to eligible owners from the low income group who owns:

1. Queens and bitches below 6 months of age
2. The pet animal must be vaccinated with proof of a Health Record from their veterinarian
3. The pet animal must be healthy and free from skin disease etc.

If you know of anyone from the above category owning a pet born somewhere around SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER & DECEMBER 2007, please advise them to call in at the SPCA office or call 04-2816559.

THURSDAY 12TH JUNE - DESARIA KRISTA KINDY TALK

SPCA will visit Desaria Krista Kindergarten in Sungai Ara - It is their `Animals Day'. SPCA would be bringing dogs and cats to the kindergarten

SUNDAY 29TH JUNE 2008 - SPCA CHILDREN'S EDUCATION CAMP

This would be the 6th year running of the above camp. Our first meeting would be called soon. We need volunteers to form an organising committee. Kinldy call Ms. Lily at 2816559 if you would like to serve in the committee. We need lots of ideas to help educate kids from 10-12 years on responsible pet ownership.

23RD & 30TH AUGUST 2008 - 4TH SPCA PENANG PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION

This competition would be open to students of ages 16-21 years. Place of competition - KDU College in Jalan Anson

SUNDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER - SPCA CHARITY FOOD FAIR

We have been talking of expanding our shelter. We want to purchase land and have a place to call our own. But, we don't have enough money. We need to do lots of fundraising. So, we have fixed a day for this big do. We can't start without an organising committee. We need volunteers. So, please sign in.

Members, friends and supporters, we would like to hear from you to add on to our list of activities for the year. We cannot be proactive without your support and participation.

ANIMAL FORUM

PUBLIC FORUM entitled... "ANIMAL WELFARE: LAW ENFORCEMENT & PUBLIC EDUCATION" held at KDU COLLEGE Penang, Level 6 on SATURDAY, 6th OCTOBER 2007.

CHILDREN EDUCATION CAMP 2007

The weather was beautiful. For this, we have to thank God. Everyone was punctual, co-operative and wonderful. There was no hitch at all and every activity went on smoothly. Our sincere appreciation to all whom have helped in the organising of the 5th Children's Education Camp held on Sunday 1st July at the MPPP YOUTH PARK. Without your contribution and patience, this education project would not have been a success. Special thanks again to all present at the camp especially: THE VOLUNTEERS, THE CHILDREN AND THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE and more importantly to our SPONSORS who have contributed in cash and in kind towards the running of the camp. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves.

 

THE SPCA PENANG 3RD ANNUAL ENGLISH ELOCUTION CONTEST 2007
TOP 3 AT THE 3rd ANNUAL ENGLISH ELOCUTION CONTEST

Another round has passed and it was a sucessful one indeed. 9 Finalists spoke on the 28th of July Grand Finals at Sentral Technology College and 3 speakers were awarded prizes. Judges at the Finals were Datin Hajjah Rose Tunku Ismail, Miss Sylvia Bernadette Michael, and Dr. Kuljit Singh Gill. Miss Him Vingie of Tunku Abdul Rahman College came in as 2nd Runner-Up, Mr. Ong Shen-Loong of Sri Pinang School was 1st Runner-Up, and Mr. Chulan Satchithanandhan of Penang Free School was Champion.

Dog Training Class

SPCA is pleased to work with Persatuan Agiliti Anjing PP to provide training for dogs adopted from SPCA. Persatuan Agiliti Anjing PP is giving 50% discount on training fee for dogs adopted from SPCA. Check out Persatuan Agiliti Anjing PP here.

The International School of Penang (Uplands) visited the SPCA....Students run for furry friends

It was a sunny afternoon on 8 Jun 2006, the animals in SPCA Penang shelter welcomed a group of young visitors from The International School of Penang (Uplands). Not only the young visitors brought a moment of joy and fun to the animals, they came to present a donation cheque to SPCA Penang. The students had collected the money through a sponsored run. These are captured by The Stars newspaper featured on 16 June 2006.

 

 

 

4TH EDUCATION CHILDREN’S CAMP (2006)

The SPCA Children's Education Camp 2006 was held on 18 June. During the day camp, the children learn how to respect, to care and to love pets. The programs include talk about pet health and care, dog shows, animal trainer showing how to train your pets, games and interactive activities. Some of our own friendly four legged friends were there to provide hands-on experience to these children too. The children were having a fun time and we hope that the children will take back with them the knowledge, value and the responsibility of how to be an "animal carer" through this camp. We thank all those who organized and volunteered to make this event a success. This is after all a continuous education program. It creates awareness and instill in the young generation the responsibilities of being a pet owner.
